A Throwback...

From Now On...

I have been wondering how I will be able to update my thoughts on a constant basis between now and the big day on the 6th May – I am in the process of trying to find a twitter ticker-tape style tool which can go in between the title and the posts – where you’ll be able to read my twitter thoughts.

As well as that – I am wanting to find a specific feed for the latest news from the campaign trail, across the country.

This is going to be a momentous moment in our nation’s modern history – who knows, we might be in the same shithole in about six months!

And So It Begins...

30 days of full-scale orgasmic electioneering began just before 11am this morning when Chairman Brown, flanked by the full set of the Politburo stood outside Number 10 and said that the election will be on the 6th May.

The latest polls suggest a lead for the Tories of anything between 4% and 10% dependant on which poll you go for. 

The debate dates have also been announced - The first of the 90-minute sessions will be screened on ITV1 on Thursday April 15, the next by Sky on April 22 and the last by the BBC on April 29.

I get the feeling that the ICM poll that shows that the Tories only have an 4% lead is sadly a rogue poll – as it was carried out during the Easter weekend.

Ambulance Chasers...

I am currently watching what seems to be a TMZ/Perez Hilton cunt-fest whilst Tiger Woods tries to answer questions prior to starting his comeback at the Masters at the Augusta National.

It seems to me that once they have asked him the inevitable trash questions involving that infamous night in Florida, last November – that they are trying to see what other shit they can throw at the poor sod.

I hope he annihilates the field this week – and stick two fingers up to all the fucking ambulance chasers and other fuckwits who have tried to trouser a fortune out of what has been a terrible situation for the golfer and his family.

Eugene Terre'Blanche's mutilated body was found on his bed along with a broad-blade knife and a wooden club, police said.

Terre'Blanche, with striking blue eyes and white beard, was the voice of hard-line opposition to the end of racial apartheid in the early 1990s, and the AWB was infamous for its swastika-like symbols and neo-Nazi anthems.

But he had been in relative obscurity since his release in 2004 after a prison sentence for beating a black man nearly to death.

One less Nazi in the world – not a bad thing that.

Reflective...

Afternoon,

As I look into the algae covered pond here in Radnor Park - I am looking back across the past year as I bead towards my 28th year. It has been a chequered and at times, squalid year for me personally. Something that has to come to an end sooner rather than later.

The way that I have allowed my depression to cloud my judgement in past months is something that on reflection confused and worried me. Is this the end game before the inevitable end of life - via some form of sadistic way. Am I allowing situations both at home and at work to ferment towards the point where the only way that I can regain some form of control is to lose it in the first instance.

That in itself would force me to ask some further uncomfortable questions - why is it that I am allowing it to happen? Is it that I feel that I am losing a form of status or respect for myself and that in a way is causing me to react in such a fashion. Is it that with the massive changes that have happened with my own job security that I feel threatened of my own personal security - financially and wellbeing.

Or perhaps it is something else: perhaps it is in my eyes that with such changes, people come and go - particularly those whom you become friends with and when they go elsewhere in future of fortune - comparing them to those who come in their place are not going to be on the same wavelength as those previously your friends. And as a direct result - such reactions are an inevitability.

As I say, difficult and brutal questions to be asking myself this weekend - and as the rain begins to fall again and the raindrops hit the pond with effortless ease - perhaps with a week off after this bank holiday, this is the time to be asking those questions.

Paradise Or Hell

Evening,

Heading back from my monthly shop to Canterbury - did not go exactly to plan. Spent only £50 when expected to spend close to four times that. Was trying some jumpers for mine and my mates piss up on Thursday and the top of them seemed decidedly tighter than normal.

It seems where I have pulled something in my chest that both of my nipple regions have for some odd reason swelled up.

Concerning. Still - off we go to All Saints when we get home for some decisive shopping - need some boots as well.

Thinking Of The Election...

The government – under the stewardship of Chairman Brown (passim) seems to have a un-nerving habit of being able to help itself into another heap of shit. 

Today it is the ever-concerning situation regarding the unions threatening further strikes with BA and the railway network – yet the unions are desperate for Brown to win the election against Call Me Dave.

I'm at the gym right now and as always they have Auntie on the tellies. Darling's budget is little less than 4 hours away and the so-called experts are trying to predict just what will Alistair come up with.

One thing for certain, although there will be inducements this time round - they are not going to be as generous as in previous years and will probably only be aimed at certain demographics.

We must hope that the current chancellor is the one who is given the mandate to carry out what is proposed after the General Election which will be called imminently.

In The Know...

I see that a massive £2million was staked with online giant Betfair on Italian clubs Chievo and Catania finishing level - with a further £217000 on a 1-1 draw.

The " predicted " draw between Chievo and Catania was facilitated by a game played at walking pace and Catania being given a penalty to make it 1-1.

Betting was suspended before the game, but some big money was wagered early this morning.

Bookies will pay out because the people involved in such corruption are not people who take kindly to being "offended”.  And unsurprisingly everyone involved is very likely to get away with it.  Funny that...

Quick post regarding the bastards above – and their corrupted selves.  There can be no doubt that these three individuals have done some serious crimes to Parliament and to the country following the revelations in the Dispatches programme on Channel 4 tonight.

The three of them have some serious questions to answer – it is imperative that they answer these questions firstly in Parliament and if necessary to the Crown.

Such examples of criminality cannot be tolerated – in light of the expenses scandal – if such allegations are true – and to be fair, there is video evidence to show that it is, then they need to face the consequences.

Two Clubs – Yet Treated Differently

Good evening,

Getting away from politics for one day, as a Liverpool FC supporter for as long as I can remember, I cannot help but be dismayed at the way that the media are ignoring the continuing protests by the Spirit of Shankly supporters movement to oust our erstwhile owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett.  Certain news outlets have almost rubbished some of the acts of direct action that the group have done in recent weeks and months. 

This in direct contrast to the way that Manchester United’s supporters groups MUST and IMUSA have apparently been able to get some 30,000 extra signatures into joining their own group to oust their own American owner.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ owner Malcolm Glazer.  Media outlets have been reporting in the past few days, that a consortium made of city figures, known as the ‘Red Knights’ are preparing a bid of some sort to buy the club from the Glazer family and give the club eventually back to the fans.  Capitalists buying from capitalists...

The media seem to have some sort of interest in wishing that United stay strong in Football terms, whilst trying to belittle the SOS’ own attempts to oust Hicks and Gillett.  Why would this be the case.  It is well known that United have always got preferential treatment from the London press for decades, for some unknown reason – perhaps it is that they are scared of us.  Scared that Liverpool FC are rising back from the ashes, with the fan base, predominantly left-wing in their political sphere are back on level terms.  The support that the club got in the weeks building up to that legendary night in Istanbul stemmed from the club’s supporters militant history of solidarity against the worst kind.

A stronger Liverpool FC, means a embolden working class whom see the Redmen as representing more than a football club, more a spirit that will never die.

Lessons Learnt. Not With Brown...

Chairman Brown has been in Afghanistan this morning trying to get away from the angry generals who have been somewhat critical of his assertions that he gave the military whatever they needed during the Iraq fiasco.

Hmmm...

There are some things that you just do not do, when your forces are at war – you do not accuse them of lying in regards of the funds that had been put aside for equipment for the troops not just in Iraq but subsequently in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister was further accused today by the former chief of the defence staff Lord Guthrie of costing the lives of soldiers by "not fully funding the army", and was asked three questions raised by relatives of some of the 179 British service personnel killed during the conflict during his evidence towards the Iraq enquiry in London yesterday.

Sir Lawrence Freedman, the historian and inquiry member, read out the questions:

• Were you aware of concerns about the lack of armoured vehicles?

• Did you receive any requests for funding, particularly between 1997 and 2006, for the purchase of armoured vehicles?

• Were concerns raised with you about the use of Snatch Land Rovers?

Brown replied: "I do understand the concerns of every relative. Where there has been a death in conflict it is right that we give the fullest explanation possible.

"At every point the answer to the question is: for the operation we are undertaking we have the equipment and we have the resources that are necessary. I don't believe that any prime minister would send our troops into conflict without the assurance from the military that they had the equipment necessary for the operation. I do not believe that there was any request that was made for equipment during the course of these events in Iraq that was turned down."

There can be no doubt that there is an element of the defence staff who are not at all happy with the way that in their eyes, the troops abroad are being negated by Chairman Brown and by extension the Labour government in favour of policy initiatives supposed to curry favour with Labour voters – even though these Labour voters are more likely to have relatives and friends out in the combat zones.  Genius.  What would those voters like more, policies that will never get off the ground of their loved ones coming home safe and well.  Exactly.

Furthermore, Brown is risking losing the goodwill of the voters as a consequence of taking on the military heirachy and facing them down by being so fucking stubborn.  This has been an issue for the voters for months and years nopw, and for Brown not to even hold his hands and admit to such mistakes is as bad as Commisar Blair not showing any contrition for the casualties of war. 

Worse for Labour though is the thought that just when they had clawed the deficit in the polls to barely a few percentage points, that this has the potential to change the narrative entirely.

He cannot afford to do that.  The Palace visit has to come as soon as possible.

Does He Have It In Him?

Afternoon,

As I relax in this exquisite bar here in Canterbury - there are suggestions across the web that Chairman Brown might be considering to go to Her Majesty as soon as this afternoon, to dissolve parliament and to get this Election going.

The polls are somewhat encouraging for Mr Brown with one poll for the Telegraph showing that the Tory lead has been shrunk to as little as five points. Opinion polls are only that, opinion. As Brown was saying as late as the autumn when the Tory lead seemed somewhat insurmountable - the only poll which is important is the one where people have to tick a box.

I do not expect him to go to the Palace this afternoon - I don't think he is that bold and brave to make such a big call.

Still Causing Pain...

Evening,

The residence had a unlikely letter in amongst the mail at the weekend.  A letter for my old man.  Hmmm, we thought he hasn’t be living up here for some 10 years or so, I wonder what on earth this could be about.

It seems that he has been continuing where he left off here, before departing here for the delights of a younger model (hic).  Considering the cunt is approaching 60 this year, you would have thought that he would stop running and start showing some responsibilities.  Not likely anytime soon, I fear...

The letter concerned was from a debt agency (ooh, I’ve seen those before!) and gave us details of his previous address in Suffolk.  An address that we had not been given at all in any of our conversations that we had had with him in the past few years.  Must’ve been running from this particular debt for sometime, as we knew that he had moved back down to Dorset about two years ago.  I think we know why now...

What did puzzle us was this though.  Why use us as a forwarding address for all documents regarding to a property in Suffolk, of which we did not know the full address of.  Very odd, very fucking odd indeed.

And then, like that – it hits home.  He thinks we, or more pertinently my mother will not report such information to the relevant authorities about his dodgy dealings.  She won’t, having been scarred by him, literally - ditto with my sister.  On the other hand, I don’t have such shocking memories.  Well, not at the hand of my old man...

So I contacted the agency, explained the situation, said that he hadn’t lived here for years, and then threw in the curveball of where we think he is right now, giving them details of his previous address down in Bournemouth, as that is where he moved to when he originally left Kent back in 2000.  That’ll screw him over...

He left my mum destitute, thousands of council tax to be paid, and he expects us to tolerate this.  Shit comes to those who wait...

State Of Mind

Evening,

Writing this whilst emptying my bowels. Apologies if you're eating whilst reading this.

Am at the moment in a sense of depression seeing another friend find love relatively quickly, whereas I've been single since the day I left school and although I'm more comfortable being single than I was some time back, there cannot be any doubt that my life would be that bit less daunting and scary if I had someone to share my life with.

I have to start questioning now whether or not I am certain to, in the words of a good colleague die alone in a flat with no one around to care.

And although I am on the right side of 30, that thought truly terrifies me.

Bullying In The Workplace

With Chairman Brown in the news trying to deflect attention away from his own workplace deficiencies towards those of his critics – I have to wonder whether such a attacking move by the Number 10 spin machine is such a wise idea, in light that Labour are only now six points behind the Tories in the last poll done at the weekend. 

Attacking such organisations for confirming such incidences of bullying had been reported to those same organisations does seem a case of shooting the messenger.  If you cannot get them to back down the first time, then get your allies in the state media to do your dirty work for you.

It sounds all so familiar.  Bully the victim yourself at first, then when that doesn’t work, get your friends in the workplace to do bully the same person. 

It’s quite pathetic really.

Is Brown Going To Name The Date?

Well, The big, bold headline in today's Daily Mail suggests the prime minister is poised to "indicate his intention to hold an early election by spelling out Labour's main election pledges" tomorrow. 

The thinking behind that idea is that since one of Brown's pledges will be about ensuring economic recovery, he has a motive to want to call an early election because of fears of a double-dip recession amid a "wave of dire economic news". 

On 23 April, the Office for National Statistics will release growth figures for the first quarter of 2010 that few expect will look rosy.  Surely he wouldn’t go the day before...but it is Gordon we are talking about!

Having A Conscious...

Evening,

There must be times in our lives where we are allowed to question the laws of the land - where laws and regulations which are on the statute books are wrong in some circumstances.

No doubt, everyone has been moved in one way or another by the story regarding Ray Gosling, the veteran journalist, who admitted on a regional news programme shown on Monday evening, that he had smothered his terminally ill lover some 20 years ago. The analagy being that the law of the heart should take higher precendence than that of the land of jurisdiction.

Surprise, surprise the knashing from the tabloids has been inevitable - with one particular rag dragging up the facts that Ray is indeed living under sheltered accomadation, and saying that he was made bankrupt some time ago.

And that's important because? What should be important is what is the story of interest now, not what the situation of the poor man previously.

What this also does now, is that it is going to open up once and for all the whole subject of euthanasia completely - which is no bad thing as the current situation where relatives can potentially be charged with accessory to murder if they assist in helping to end their family member life.

This has been going on for as long as I can remember, we all need clarification and guidance. Are we going to go down the route of other countries such as the Netherlands and Switzerland where such acts are legal, or are we going to keep it as it is and force people to go abroad to carry out their wishes.

Judging The Jury

Morning,

I see that there a survey out this morning in regards to juries and the way that they help or dare I say hinder the criminal justice process.

The main and concerning aspect of the survey is that some 2 out of 3 individuals say that do not understand the legal jargon that is used during trials.

That may be the case, however can you think of a better and fairer criminal process than trial by jury?

Have this evening started my holiday which runs for just under two weeks, though I'm working on Sunday as it's double time and it's a nice break in the hegemony of the holiday - doing fuck all as normal!

Watching Newswipe with the irrascible Charlie Brooker at the moment, have heard a lot about this through Brooker's own Twitter feed so we thought we'd have a peruse at this, must watch this more often!

Alternative Universe

I have thought ever since Chairman Brown came up with the idea of a debate regarding electoral reform that it was a ruse for him to try to save his and Labour’s arses at any potential General Election. 

Electoral Reform is one of the Liberal Democrats main projects, for what seems to have been an eternity – the thinking that if Brown was to get some sort of reform up and running before any election, that in the likelihood of a hung parliament that he could squeeze in with the Lib Dems in some form of so-called Liberal Coalition.

Because let’s be blunt here.  If Labour was on course for another hundred-plus majority would the party be any more interested in electoral reform than it was when Roy Jenkins' Royal Commission reported back in 1998? Of course not.

 

 

Flood Of Guilt...

I see that both Chairman Brown and former Propaganda minister Campbell are in the news for breaking down in front of the cameras...

It is inevitable that when discussions meander towards the death of anyone’s daughter – that the parent is going to be emotional about it.  However, from what I have seen of the Campbell interview on Auntie this morning, it did not seem that the interview was being that bruising.

I cannot help but feel a sense of media manipulation on the side of Campbell in this case...

Vicious Circle...Returned

I am at the gym trying to get all the anger out of my system following a major kick off with predominantly my sister and latterly my mother last night. It all stems from a day out that I had with a few friends at Bluewater - I thought I was a bit of a shopper and yet one of my good mates spent £125 on a pair of Ugg boots, those woollen ones which we thought would cost about £25 more than that!

Anyhow, the frustration for me is that they have no problems spending money ad infinitum and I do. I thought that spending the levels that I did was pretty excessive - and yet I have my sister who takes off me in excess of £200 every month - purely for her bills but in a way because I'm a fucking fool.

Now, I said last night that I wanted a break from the status quo and spending what is in essence about 40% of my wages every month on rent and keeping my sister cushy.

Because I want to leave home, my sister called me some pretty nasty stuff. That in itself caused me to drag up some nasty stuff from a long time ago. So not useful for anyone.

What this does to me however is this: it puts me in a position that I vowed I wouldn't be put in. The position that, I am in their eyes screwing them over, instead of actually doing what the majority of people my age do - fly the nest. It seems in their opinion, anyone who does that must be a selfish cunt. Their words not mine!

Haven't got a clue what I'm going to do from here!

Closer To The Truth?

I see that the former attorney general, Lord Goldsmith is in front of the Iraq enquiry as I write this. The question that everyone wants to know is that whether or not he was ever put under any form of pressure to change his mind regarding whether or not in his eyes, any charge into war was legal or illegal.

One minute it was illegal, next it was legal.

What, or probably more pertinently whom made him change his mind and why did he change his mind?

Morning,

All kicked off at home yet again this morning, just before I left for some overtime at work, she has no money following her expedition to Tesco out of town yesterday. She had previously given me the £20 that I gave her for some emergencies - during the recent blast from the East.

You do not need to guess what I have subsequently done! Luckily, there are no Badminton courts avaliable for tomorrow night, so I don't need to spend as much as I thought I would. So I've got about a tenner to live on up till Thursday when I get paid.

Still it could be oh so worse...

Dropping Into The Shitter...

Evening,

Not for the first time in his leadership, and I use that term extremely loosely – Chairman Brown yesterday made an ridiculous and wrong calculation.  By agreeing to give evidence in the Iraq Enquiry being held by Lord Chilcott before the inevitable anal-fisting fucking that Labour are going to get at the General Election – he is risking making Labour’s performance at that impending election even worse than what the polls are saying they are going to be already.  That is so fucking clever, Gordon.

Of course it was Chairman Brown’s idea to have an enquiry into the whole face behind the biggest militaristic fuck-up, this side of Suez.  Not that you would think it was a enquiry.  I saw Jack Straw take questions from the panel and it all seemed a bit too la-di-da for my liking.  At one point when one of the panellists was coughing like he was going to go down the Jade Goody route, Comrade Jack, offered him a fucking cough-sweet. 

A FUCKING COUGH-SWEET.  The fucking twat, like the rest of that spineless cabinet at the time, should be cooped up in a 9x6 jail deep in the Hague for their fucking crimes.

Now, one of my main reasons that I think that Mr Brown has made such a seismic fuck of a decision is that next week, the former vicar of that Parish is going to be taking evidence before that enquiry.  Mr Blair, will no doubt be only be too happy to throw some of the blame of the war happening the way that it did at his arch-nemesis.  Naturally...

One further observation that I have seen about the Chilcott inquiry, which make Gordon’s decision all the more absurd.  It has linked him to the inner circle who decided on our Iraq policy in a way that no one has before, its also bringing in yet more of the current Labour Cabinet in to the spot light too, and right before the General Election.  There are some who should be worried about keeping their seats at the table, let alone going for the corpse...

But the inquiry has also had the opposite effect of disconnecting the current Conservative leadership and their party from the decision completely. Gordon Brown never had a political antennae to speak of, but leaving the General Election to run along side this inquiry has got to rank up there with some of his other dreadful political judgements.  Leaving Brown drowning in his own shit...

Lessons Learnt...

I see the newspapers have gone big on the South Yorkshire children attack by those two brothers, going down the same old fucking tack as Call Me Dave - no doubt putting their own fucking prejudices in front of their clued-up, or in the case of the Scum or Fail, clueless readers/retards (delete accordingly...)

Remember the perpetrators are children, they deserve and warrant the same treatment as would be given to murderers and Paedophiles. We as a society should be judged not just how we treat victims of crimes, but the guilty of such heinous crimes.

As I stated last night, the way that the murderers of James Bulger were dealt with, is a case in point and is seen by many in social services as the way to deal with such offenders.

Let them have their anonimity and allow them to try and rebuild their own lives, which up to now have been nothing short of disgusting. Perhaps it will start making the intelligensia wonder what makes those children from working class communities do such acts of barbarism.

20 years since that murder of James, and still the working classes are ignored...

Substantial To Severe...

It’s just broken on the news channels that Britain’s terror level has been raised from there being a strong possibility chance of a attack on the UK or its interests abroad to highly likely.  The Home Secretary has just made a pre-recorded statement for the channels – looking very dapper for a Friday evening...

Makes sense...there is an election due within a few weeks...

Perhaps they should introduce the same kind of threat levels for the British economy.  Right now we’d be at CRITICAL with an imminent threat of a George Osborne attack on the British economy.

Saying that though, Labour, by falsifying intelligence, have shown they cannot be trusted. They’ve earned this situation where any and all such pronouncements of EXTREME TERROR DEATH ALERT must be treated with pronounced scepticism or outright hostility.

Anything to stop Chairman Brown meeting his maker...

Like Blair Before Him...Cameron The Opportunist...

Nobody can help but be appalled by the shocking case regarding the two brothers who were convicted today for their part in a sadistic assault of two young children in South Yorkshire.  Although it has not had the blanket media coverage that other sickening cases have had in the past, such as the murder of James Bulger or the case of Mary Bell before that, it is another shocking example of just how evil some children can be – albeit not helped by the brutal upbringing that they have had.

However, the way that the politicians of this country have reacted to the case is similar to both of the cases mentioned above.  In the aftermath of the Bulger trial, which was the first trial that I can vividly remember, if only for the mob mentality that there was outside Preston Crown Court the evening that those two young boys were led away to spend time in a secure home – what is only being mentioned now is the way Tony Blair, back then the Shadow Home Secretary reacted to the case.

Blair was rightly condemned for getting involved at the time for using the death of a child for political advantage.  The argument that the torture and murder of Bulger by two ten-year-old boys was a symbol of the decline of Britain under the Tories was morally and empirically unsound.  I think the term that Blair used back then was that the murder was "a hammer blow against the sleeping conscience of the nation".  Such attacks take place without reason or pattern.  They are, thankfully, too rare to tell us much about the state of the nation.

So for Cameron to go on the attack for exactly the same reason is somewhat concerning.  Is there anything at all, that politicians have learnt in the intervening twenty or so years?  Highlighting individual cases such as Cameron and Blair previously did does nothing at all to help, in fact it hinders such work.  The hysterical response of the Scum and other tabloids to the death of Baby P led to a social work recruitment crisis that continues to endanger children.

Also there is another point to be made regarding the Bulger case, which is very important.  Regardless of how brutal and disgusting the assault was on those two children – these two who committed this attack are themselves children.  If there is a precedent for the reform and rehabilitation of child criminals publicly assumed to be fundamentally evil and beyond all form of help that the state could give, then it comes in the form of Jon Venables and Robert Thompson.  For in the aftermath after their conviction their abduction and murder of James Bulger, the 10-year-olds were not just deprived of their liberty but put through a comprehensive programme of psychotherapy, education and consistent, strict discipline.

Within eight years being convicted the then-teenagers – equipped with A-levels and an ability to speak fluently about emotions and remorse – convinced parole boards that they were ready to be freed.  The brothers behind the Edlington torture case are the most notorious British child criminals since Venables and Thompson.  As much as Mr Cameron would like to use this for political advantage, and as hard as it might be for their victims' families to accept, it is possible that they could turn their lives around...

Some Home Truths...

Good Evening,

I was going to discuss the forthcoming election in this country, however as with all things it seems right now – things are somewhat forced by events in my own personal life and I want to take this opportunity with a day off tomorrow, to do some soul-searching via the medium of this blog.

As I watch the game against the Yids at the Coliseum this evening, it has become apparent that both my mother and sister are sniping at the sidelines at each other for the most retarded of reasons – now I haven’t exactly had the best day at work, so it is not what is really wanted by myself at this moment in time. 

I have to think carefully about what I say on this blog, because I think I have made it pretty clear that I do say some controversial things on this blog – about my political, religious and ideological viewpoints, the way that I see the world around me, from my family and friends and how I interact with them, to how other people treat each other – and try to use this space that I have to give out my own form of a manifesto for life.

The main thing that I have been criticised by some of my peers, is that I am constantly at the beck and call of my family – this is hard to explain and I cannot any longer treat this blog with the reverence that I have done in the past without explaining some home truths. 

I will not be revealing any this evening, because I am a bit emotional right now, and I have found to my cost, in recent times that posts and longer essays should be best done when you are in a clear mind, with no negative vibes going on your head, because that is when you can be at your most clear and concise, without any bullshit smudging the words.

What I will say however is this, what I am going to be revealing is things that are not nice, however I think it is time, that they are known – there are people that I have known for years who do not have a clue at the life that I have had. 

I believe that it is time that they know just why I am who I am.

The Elephant In The Room

Afternoon,

There has been much back-slapping and self-congratulatory comment from various Labour Ministers in the past week, regarding the notion that ethnic minorities are not as prejudiced against now, as compared to 10 years ago.  All very good, I would say – however what cannot be said is that the government has done much in regards of getting rid of the discrimination that still exists – probably more so than it did 10 years back – Class.

To say that a person’s race affects their opportunities in society less than factors such as class and gender is now, I think, to state the obvious. In a way it is also a welcome development because it shows our society has become much more progressive on race issues: though it’s still a problem that how much a child’s parents earn still matters.

In many parts of the country, but particularly down here in the South, educational attainment and health outcomes are still shaped strongly by socio-economic status and social class.  The elephant in the room is something that up till now, this government has failed in its responsibility to work towards a classless society.  That disadvantage can be a greater handicap than the prejudice that is experienced by some people from minority ethnic groups.

One of the most fundamental questions that surrounds this issue however is this.

Why is it only now that this Labour Government has decided to start talking about the White Working Class, when it has had almost 13 years to work towards the classless society that those of us on the Left yearn for?

The answer has to be Political expediency.

Labour has so far attempted to force social mobility upon the country with headline grabbing stunts such as compelling Oxbridge to take candidates with lower grades. What possible benefit can be gained from such a policy other than the further dilution of university degrees and sub-standard graduates who will ultimately fail in the world of work? Surely the best way to create a more open society is to look lower down the failing education system.

The bottom line is that if you are white – and working-class  – Britain is not necessarily such a pleasant land. Whereas ethnic minorities, especially those who have arrived relatively recently, tend to have high aspirations, stable homes and make great sacrifices to ensure the best education for their children, the same culture does not pervade white working-class families. Their children, particularly the boys, have for many years been out-performed at school by virtually every other social group, and the decline in heavy industrial jobs that once offered a livelihood to young men with no qualifications has compounded their disadvantages. 

But the current Labour leadership just don’t get it.  Most of them are now privately educated, do not come from a trades union background, have little or no connection with working-class people and are increasingly connected to other areas of business, industry and commerce, including the legal profession, and have become professional politicians without any experience of business, industry and commerce.  Hence why yesterday, we saw Chairman Brown desperately seeking the support of the middle-classes – they would rather those nice mummies and daddies vote for them than the underclass who truly needs the government support in the current economic climate.  But that would be too difficult for Brown to do...

It is impossible not to take a cynical view of Mr Denham's somewhat belated recognition of the parlous position of the white working classes. These are the traditional supporters of Labour's heartland, the "core vote" that Gordon Brown is desperate to retain, who feel badly let down by the Government and are turning to the BNP. 

It will rank as one of the greatest stains on his premiership that such extremists were able to gain an electoral foothold in our country – for in the end, that is the true legacy of Labour's years in power.

Why is it that Chairman Brown has been spending the most part of today trying to shore up the middle class voters that New Labour got back in 1997.  Surely even he knows that, that is a waste of time and effort on his part! 

He has said that the party wants to create "more middle class jobs than ever before".  But by saying what he has said this afternoon, he is almost certainly making sure that the core support of the party, the working classes are going to continue to disaffected by the way that the party continues to whore itself to any fucker who is willing to pay.  Just like 1997...

By stating that he is not going to wage a class war in the upcoming election, he is pretty much tossing away the votes of the working class into the hands of the Liberal Democrats or worse still, the far right.

He has also said that he expects only 10% of the jobs created in the next decade will be “unskilled” but it is those unskilled workers of which the party should be caring about the most and not the fucking stuck-up, look up their fucking nose to the underclass middle-classes.

It is fucking obvious to everyone, except Chairman Brown – that New Labour in it’s current form is dead.  Fuck the middle classes, and fuck the fucking bankers – and start concentrating on supporting the very people of whom the party was set up for in the first place.

No doubt by now you would have heard of the hideous catastrophe that has happened in Haiti, formerly the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

And that is saying something…

Just after 9pm London time last night, a tremor measuring some 7.0 on the Richter scale struck some 10 miles south-west of the capital, Port-au-Prince.

It is a country which has been ravaged by war and poverty for most of its history – and therefore it’s infrastructure is next to non-existent – so much so that according to reports out there, the Parliament and Tax Office in the capital are amongst the buildings which have collapsed. 

Even the Presidential Palace has been pretty much reduced to rubble.

"There are a lot of schools that have a lot of dead people in them."

Those are the words of the Haitian President. 

Have they suffered the ultimate insult, the wiping out of an entire generation in one unforgiving moment.

Strange and Odd

Evening,

Had a surreal few moments whilst at work this morning.  It involved speaking to an gentleman who had a problem, and whilst dealing with it and eventually after 10 minutes of talking with him about the query, began calling me Guv’nor and Boss amongst other expressions.

Only one person has ever called me that.

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen my father for some five years pretty much, and for a moment this morning -  I could not help but shed a tear for my father and it was a private moment, no one saw it.  I doubt they would have noticed it, but still it happened and I have to ask myself why did that happen. 

Do not get me wrong, I think the way my mother has helped me through my depression and suicidal tendencies in the aftermath of my father leaving home, was nothing short of amazing. 

The way that Dad left home was explicitly sudden and without some form of explanation at the time left me traumatised for several years and for that period I was pretty much unemployable – the difference in me now, compared to 10 years ago, is fucking frightening. 

Sometimes in life, terrible things happen and yet above the rubble, we rise up and become better people…

It’s the same with my ever continuing weight problems, been trying to convince that I was planning indulging over Christmas, but fuck me it’s almost three weeks since fucking Christmas, and how many times have I’ve been there since then.

Oooh, I can just about count them on my hand…

Seriously, I need to get focussed on the coming months of events, we’ve got a wedding involving my mate Shiv and her other half Rob down in Lydd in the middle of March and the aim is to get down towards 13 stone for the big day.  I have got my eyes on a terrific three piece suits from Allsaints for the ceremony and don’t want to be looking like some fucking fat cunt from the Full Monty.

So we’re going to be at the gym tomorrow afternoon, as soon as I finish at the gym, and probably take in some classes specifically to get rid of the fucking spare tyre which seems to be growing at a alarming rate.

Still, according to the scales, I’m still around the 14 stone mark.  Must be all the push-ups that I have been doing…

A Personal Idea

I’ve been thinking the last few weeks about ways of expressing my innermost thoughts, when I am at my lowest points.  As I have stated in previous posts, I have suffered from bouts of depression ever since my last 18 months at school on the Isle of Wight, so that would be for the past 12 years or so.

I have recently bought a small pad to note down words, feelings, expressions of thought that I have during the day, and either via my laptop or my mobile (and you’ll know when I’m writing from the iPhone because the text will be much closer together and pretty jumbled!)

I will note my first musings imminently, within the hour or so.

But first, the new series of Survivors is on the Beeb, that needs watching first!

Out Of Africa

No one can help but be disturbed by the dramatic pictures coming out of Angola on Friday night, with players from the small West African nation of Togo cowering in terror after being shot upon by guerrillas in the disputed region of Cabinda. The likes of Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor hiding on the team bus as a gun battle ensued for half hour between the rebels and the teams own convoy of security.

It has to be said that the way that the Togoese team has reacted with grace and dignity - remember one of their goalkeepers is in intensive care in a Johannesburg hospital as I write this.

However, as dastardly a attack on Sport as this is, it cannot under any circumstances be allowed to undermine not just the tournament in Angola - but the World Cup finals being staged in South Africa in June. To allow that to happen would be to give succour to the bastards who launched this unprovoked terrorist attack.

Yet I am seeing certain ill-informed individuals pontificating on the channels stating that it will only give hope to such groups wanting to launch a spectacular at those finals - questioning whether or not the finals should be happening in Africa in the first place.

But then ask the likes of Essien, Drogba and Adebayor and those before them. Weah, Kanu amongst the African greats.

People do not have a clue just what having the greatest show on earth on their continent will do to the African psyche. Make no mistake within a decade, Cote D'Ivoire or Ghana will probably have won the World Cup and the inevitable will become a reality.

Africa will become the 21st century heartbeat of World Football.

How The Winter Of 2009 Is Affecting Europe…

Germany's Civil Protection Office (BBK) says heavy snowfalls expected on Saturday could trigger local power cuts and severely disrupt public transport.

France is also braced for more snow. Meteo France warned: "The amount of snow expected is significant, exceptional even".

In the meantime East Herts councils are advising residents that it may be a good idea to carry an umbrella with them if going out on Sunday.....just in case!

It’s Election Time…But Not As We Know It

Yeah, I know!  The General Election is probably more than four months away but already Call Me Dave has fired the pistol for the most technologically advance election campaign in British Political History.  And as we saw with the election of Obama in America and the ongoing movement for change in Iran – the internet is going to have a massive bearing on how the election is fought and won.

The setting could hardly have been more traditional as David Cameron launched the Conservative party's election campaign on Saturday in a quiet corner of rural Oxfordshire. Cameron spoke in a converted farm building and received polite applause. There was no razzmatazz. "It was a bit like a constituency event," said an one of Cameron’s many aides.

At the last election, in May 2005, social networking sites were known to few. Facebook was largely unheard of and Twitter had yet to be invented. YouTube had been in existence for barely months. Blogs were in their infancy (mine, was first set up in February of that year) and political bloggers such as Guido Fawkes and Liberal Conspiracy, now hugely influential in the flow of news, had yet to evolve. All parties used email, but beyond that the internet remained as undeveloped as a Conservative Manifesto.

Election 2010 will show how much the world has changed – and how susceptible election outcomes now are to the unpredictability of events online.  However I don’t think that will be the key aspect to the election campaign – albeit not this time around.

The agreement of all three party leaders to hold three 90-minute US-style television debates during the campaign reflects the public thirst for direct access to political discussion – and adds to the sense of unpredictability. It is particularly good news for the third party in the polls, the Liberal Democrats, who are delighted that Nick Clegg, a good media performer, will have the chance to compete on equal terms alongside Brown and Cameron. A strong performance could notch his party well up in the ratings.

And that could spell trouble for both Brown and Cameron…

My prediction: I think the Tories will win, but it is NOT going to be the raging landslide that all of those suckers think it will be.  And there will be some very uncomfortable viewing for all of us on the Left.

Need To Refresh This…

As much as I love the current format, I think that it needs to have a re-vamp to try and take advantage of all of my various accounts that I have at the moment – whether that is Facebook, Twitter or my new LinkedIn account.

Probably will do some design work on Photoshop tonight and see what I can do.

Now watching the Redmen play Reading in the cup.  So far there has been no shocks in the third round today – but the way LFC are playing right now, I can see that not being the case by the end of tonight…

What Has 2010 Got In Store?

Been thinking about this a lot obviously recently.  Apart from hoping that this is the year that I finally crack the 13 stone target and keep under it, I do think that we will see significant social and political change around the world in the coming year – which will affect how we all see the world in decades to come.

First of all, I fear that we will get entrenched in Afghanistan well and truly next year – it seems that the full realisation of what we have got ourselves into is only beginning to be appreciated in the last few months, particularly as we have moved ourselves away from Iraq and Dubya’s private war – to the main reason why we were in the neighbourhood in the first fucking place.

In that same region I predict that we could see some momentous scenes in Tehran, Estafan, Tabriz and across Iran as the Green Revolution takes hold and eventually takes down the entire Theocratic regime in Iran – it will be interesting to see whether or not Obama can continue to resist the urge to openly support the protesters.

Some things won’t change – the government will still be in power – even if it’s a different fucking hue of government – the bastards will still keep on churning out the same old, failed – fucked up policies which have not worked for the past 25 years and have allowed the ordinary person on the street get alienated with politics in this country.

and no doubt England will dazzle in the group stages in South Africa…and lose in a penalty shoot-out to Portugal…again.

They Didn’t Listen…

What did we expect?

It was pretty fucking obvious pretty early on that regardless of whom tried to get some clemency for Akmal Shaikh, that it was always going to fall on deaf ears.

Akmal Shaikh was murdered by the Chinese State sometime after 2.30am this morning.

Because that is what it was, and the Prime Minister should not be kow-towed into saying anything but that.

What we need to do now is to punish China in the harshest way possible.

• We need to help get rid of the China friendly governments in Burma and Iran, where repression is dealt with by using weapons produced by China.
• We must actively support the autonomous regions in Western China, Tibet in  particular in their continuing struggle for independence.
• We must actively support those within China and Hong Kong who are looking for the country to move towards democratic reform.

There must be consequences – even if our government’s too scared to do it themselves.

Not The Sales Again!!!

Evening,

Since being off for the holidays, I have been looking online for any great bargains pretty much since I got home from work on Christmas Eve. One of the things that I have noticed this year in comparison to previous years is the lack of great offers in the major retailers and I had to go to some different places this year.

I was going to head to London, yesterday however on Saturday evening I bought two Lyle and Scott jumpers for the same price as I can in the store in Covert Garden - as well as a pair of Onitsuka Tigers.

This evening I have been toying with the idea of getting this Argyle diamond jumper, again from Lyle and Scott as well as this Peter Werth wool jacket - however we've gone for two graphic tops from All Saints - their shirts are amongst the most beautifully designed around.

Think we've got about £160 left in my sales allowance so we might give it a few days and see what happens from there.

Also off topic, after much quibbling with my sister, I've finally have got back my barometer and temperature sensor which if you haven't see the weather forecast for the next week or so, might be rather useful...

Raging Against The Machine

Oh yeah.  Cracking little title for this post!

It seems that every day there is some tyrannical cunt somewhere in the world, trying to make themselves as popular as Pork Stew being served at a Barmitzvah.  Today that prized cunt – or cunts to use the adjective term is the people of the Communist Party of China.

It seems the term Mentally Ill has not arrived in the corridors of power in Beijing, because they are in the process of putting to death someone who was only found guilty of some 4kg of heroin. 

So he wasn’t found guilty of massacring innocent protesters (ala Tiananman Square) or passing on weapons to be used against demonstrators (eg, Saffron Revolution, Burma 2008) or for that matter, launching widespread population change in places such as Urumqui (where the unfortunate Briton is on death row) or Tibet.

In comparison to some of the acts of pure genocide that China has initiated in recent years, this is rather minor.

Executing such a man is not going to do your standing any good whatsoever right now in the world.  There are a lot of people in the world (me included) who want you to stop financing arms deal to such countries as Burma (or Myanmar as you love calling it) or for that matter Iran, scene of recent protests.

Do yourself a favour.  Release Akmal Shaikh now.

Long Time…

And so I apologise again for a lack of posts during these past few weeks, I have been thinking in recent months about the way that I want this blog to go and whether it should be a blog in which I air my opinions purely of global events or whether I should take it down a more personal route and the way it affects my life.

In the end I have decided to go for a smuch of the two if you will.  A combination of the above – in other words, what I am thinking at that moment in time.

A new concept, I know!  But in these momentous times that we live in, it is important that people the world over can see what like-minded individuals are thinking – it is when those like-minded form a coalition, a united front against authority for whatever reason, that real change can come about and come about it does. 

We are continuing to see amazing pictures coming out Iran this very afternoon, of young people rising up against the theocratic system forced upon them.  Uprisings like these can and do inspire others throughout the globe to join as one to make the world a better place. 

To make those in authority accountable for their actions, that is in the end all we want.

Unelected and Unwanted

That should be the message that our masters in Brussels should be thinking to themselves this evening as they self-congratulate themselves over electing themselves some new fucking leaders including one person who has got to where she is right now even though she has never in her political career EVER once been elected into office by those whom she is supposed to represent nowadays.

In amongst all the furore surrounding the Prime Minister’s somewhat poor attempt to apologise to the family of Guardsman Jamie Janes for the appallingly bad letter which was sent to them in the aftermath of their son’s death in Vietnam Afghanistan, there has been little apart from certain friendly commentators about the conduct of a certain rag’s part in the whole sordid affair.

But then it is the Scum at work, so no level of boundaries for that shite of a rag to get down to…

At 11am this morning, the country will fall silent for two minutes to remember the fallen of past wars and conflicts.

Whether they died at in the mud covered horrors of Ypres or the sun-stroked heat of Helmand, we will remember them.

This Might Be Painful...

But for the troops in Afghanistan it is a very different sort of pain as they cope with losing another five comrades at the hands of a supposed lone assassin in Helmand province.

It does bring into question the very reason that we are over there, for whilst there are some deluded fanatics who want to take Afghanistan from the Middle Ages to the Stone Age - there is a whole generation who want and demand change.

Perhaps Twitter can do something, the protests in Iran are continuing thanks to it...

Compare And Contrast

Evening,

Something that I have seen on PoliticalBetting this afternoon, showing the difference in leads that the Tories have got at the moment in comparison to the sort of lead that Labour had prior to their landslide in 1997.  And it makes for extremely bad reading for Chairman Brown.

The above is the poll that ICM/Guardian ran at the start of November 1996, some six months prior to the subsequent landslide that bought Blair into Downing Street.  Now although Labour had a commanding 13 point lead, look at where the Tories were back then.  Fuck, Chairman Brown would probably kill to be anywhere near the sort of figures that the Tories were on, at their Nadir. 

Which opens up any number of questions, primarily just how bad could the scale of defeat could be for Labour whenever they announce the date of the election, and what would be the consequences of such a dire result for Labour.

I get the feeling that just like 96/97 voters have made their minds up. They might not like the Tories but they just want the election to happen so they can put Brown in his place. It is said that it is not oppositions who win elections, it is governments who lose them.

To Lose One Is Bad, But To Lose Two…

…and the fallout from the sacking of Professor David Nutt for telling the unpalatable truth on drugs seems to be getting from bad to worse.

Afternoon all and news reaches me via Sky News that another eminent scientist has resigned from his government advisory role in protest of the above mentioned sacking.  Fears are growing within government circles of further resignations, or possibly an en masse decapitation scenario with every scientist on the Drug advisory Board resigning in support of Professor Nutt. 

From sacking someone for telling people how it is, it would be seen as summing up the ineptitude with the Labour Government right now.  But like all embattled governments, they will not admit that they, like all governments before them have been wrong in this regard.  And this resignation being forced upon Professor Nutt by someone who is supposed to represent the Progressive Left. 

The bottom line remains this:  Alcohol and cigarettes are far far more likely to harm and eventually kill its addicts, than drugs such as Cannabis and Ecstasy, but too many influential people in high places have got too much to lose by admitting that.

Well as promised I am writing now on my new laptop, reduced from £480 down to £330, with Norton thrown in for an extra £10 which I don’t think is a bad day’s return.  Naturally, some of you are going to be wondering how it is that I am able to be writing and sending these directly from my laptop at this time of night….

I have been able to get some form of file onto my beloved iPhone which allows me to tether my 3G network into a form of Ethernet cable which is plugged from the phone to the laptop.  Which is fucking fantastic.

Which should mean more posting and more concise and better posts.

That is no bad thing I think you will agree!

Onto tonight’s news, and as we head into November it seems that Chairman Brown’s woes continue with Labour continuing to be languishing further behind the Tories than they have been for a while – which is saying something.  Noted in the poll that the Lib Dems are now only four points behind Sorry labour, which however you try to paint is a very sorry situation for any Prime Minister to be heading into the last few months of the year.

Mind how you go…

So It Wasn't The End...

Afternoon,

After much pontificating and soulsearching (actually that's bollocks!) I've decided that this is in fact not the end of BBB. In fact more a departure in the way that the website goes. BBB will stay the same, whilst spilling over onto other issues, such as Football and Music, the other two passions in my life.

Against mother's wishes I have gone against her hopes and got myself a new laptop today, pretty good as well, 2.2 Celeron, 3gb memory and the fuck off massive 500gb hard drive which for a laptop is phenomenal. I've also found a way to get online via the laptop without using the broadband which is in my sister's bedroom. God bless the tether! More about that this evening.

I've also made a somewhat controversial decision over where I go from here - in regard of the bottom line that my life seems to be going nowhere and quickly! Here's a clue, it isn't here.

So here I am in a cafè, engulfed in the smells of my youth, awaiting my bangers and mash, oh they've arrived so I'm going to have this and we'll speak later...

The End...or The Beginning.

I have been doing this website for the past few years and in that time it has evolved from being a website for my own personal thoughts, constant slagging off of politicians and those around my life.

However, today changes that.

With the end of BBB, comes the start of a new side of me. Getting back at the bastards which are the bain of my (and probably your) life.

So come abroad. It's going to be a fucking free-for-all.

The Unwanted Children..

About two years ago I watched a remarkable and sad story regarding Bulgaria's unwanted children.  The director Kate Blewett went to what was in other words a institution in Mogilino for those children who were unwanted.  Unwanted by their parents, unwanted by their community and hidden away by the establishment.

Now after a campaign of support and solidarity towards the children from across Europe - with ambassadors and foreign ministers coming face to face with the horrors of Mogilino - the director has gone back to Bulgaria to see what has happened in the intervening two years.  And the transformation in the children's lives has been nothing short of amazing.

They are treated like the humans that they are and that is all that should be expected.  They were treated in a way that people would be rising up, if cattle was treated in such a way.

Shows what can happen when politicians get their arses into gear...

The Gamechanger

Apologies for the lack of posting in recent days, I will give a comprehensive reason over what has happened in the next few days when hopefully it is all cleared up.

Onto more concerning matters and following the Scum's inevitable decision to withdraw it's support for Chairman Brown, Labour has reacted in probably the worse way possible, it could almost be described as being as even more ignorant as the Scum itself, and that is saying a lot.

There can be no doubt that this has been coming for some time. It is well known in political circles that George Osborne is paddy with James Murdoch the owner of News International and Andy Coulson, ex editor of the Screws is best buddies with the current Scum editor, Dominic Mohan - both have the dubious honour of having both co edited the pathetic 'Bizarre' column in that rag.

So for Labour to react in that way, shows that they have not just lost the media battle but that they do not have the nous to react to such developments like this. One of Alistair Campbell's main attributes was his ability to be able to strike down any story that rubbished Labour or Tony Blair - that is not there in Downing Street anymore and yesterday showed that up badly.

Whether the Scum, changing the support from the Red Tories to the True Tories remain to be seen, but if the paper goes for the jugular like they do with underperforming England managers, then it could be the start of eight months of torture for this administration in the build up to a potential landslide sometime in the Spring of next year.
