Just Need A Soulmate....
Afternoon all,
Bit of a somber post this afternoon, can be argued to be a bit of a self-pitying rant.
I cannot help but think that I am missing something in my life. Not in the money or job way, but personally. Having been single since I left school I have grown increasingly accustomed to being single and probably staying like that for probably eternity.
I know a lot of people will say that all you need to do is find a girl, wine and dine them and then if you get lucky, you'll get your leg-over at the end of the night.
I cannot be doing with that up to a point. I have already made it clear to myself that although there are some beautiful women with wonderful personalities at my place of work, that is one area which is purely out of boundaries. Although from the outside looking in, it may not seem that I take my work seriously, I do to such an extent that mixing business with pleasure is not my style.
Many will say, whether rightly or wrongly that this is a path to unhappiness, but perhaps that is better than showing yourself up to be something that you are not. I am not one of these people who will drink to excess, I have done that part of my life, loved every moment of it but I need to settle down. Leaving home will have a big bearing on this, escaping the clutches of those around me is vital towards the ultimate goal.
For the meantime however, the only thing I can do is just wish and hope that Miss Right is round the corner...
Rob :(

And That Is Probably That...
Evening,
I write again tonight from the confines of my iPhone, having listened to yet another abject performance from LFC.
You can probably guess by what I mean by the above....

A Possible Lifeboat For Ailing SS Brown
Evening all,
Something that I have read on the Guardian's website from Andy Marr's other half. In the interesting piece, Jackie Ashley suggests that one way out for Chairman Brown is as the figurehead of a new global financial regulator.
It is something that is seen as possibly a bit of a goer with the German Chancellor Anglea Merkel being the one pushing it the most, Obama can be won over according to her source, and even Sarkozy could be seen as supporting this - seeing Brown off the European stage would please him from ear to ear!
A few thoughts come to mind immediately. The first and most obvious thought is whether Brown is now qualified to be such a regulator. Well it isn't like Britain's economy is doing too well at the moment, with further news today that 850 jobs have gone with immediate effect at BMW's plant in Cowley. Pictures of workers being told the grim news beam across the 24-hour news channels, further images that will tarnish Brown's reputation for economic competency.
The other thought is that Brown would not want to leave the Labour Party on its knees which is where it is at the moment. With an 16 point deficit behind the Tories in recent opinion polls, surely any resignation from Brown would almost certainly force the Party into an election it would lose and lose as badly as Major did in 1997, if not worse.
So there we stand tonight - a possible, stress possible scenario for the coming few months. Chairman Brown must be feeling somewhat blooded and bruised after a catastrophic last few weeks. Self-belief is not going to be enough anymore for Brown to survive for much longer. As I write tonight, the lieutenants at Labour HQ must be asking whether it would save a few seats with a different leader. It is a remarkable thought, but these are remarkable times we live in.
Night, Night

Was I Right? I Think I Was...
Afternoon,
I alluded to something in my earlier post, that I saw something yesterday which I was somewhat not surprised about, however the image of it is still in my thoughts as I write this.
As I went to the local toilets in Deepest Canterbury just behind the main drag in the city, I first saw what seemed to be some sort of exchanging of substances, probably Coke or Dope. A early Saturday evening scene, which happens up and down the country. Not surprising.
As I went into the loo, I was struck by a man sticking a needle into the bottom of his spine, it looked like it was Heroin. Instantly, the bloke apologised that I had to witness something like that, almost like he was expecting me to report him to the Old Bill.
At the time, I told him it was not a problem and that he shouldn't worry about any fall out.
He went onto explain the circumstances behind his current state of mind. Being in London earlier that day, I had already seen some people sleeping rough but sadly you have to expect that there. Still it was an image that is forcing me to question whether my extremely liberal stance on drugs.
I will be honest here, I have smoked Dope, the last time about a year ago, this weekend to be precise and the main reason why I did was to experiment. For the record, it is something that I am not proud off and I do not intend to take it in the future.
However, the way that people go down on that slippery road from smoking weed and sniffing the odd line to injecting yourself with Heroin and being completely reliant on your twice-daily hit is bloody scary.
The real question that truly needs to be asked is whether or not I was right to not have done nothing. Should I have contacted the police and hope that they would have given the poor bigger help, or was I right to have left him to get on with the self-destruction of himself.
I did the latter, on the premise that the police would not have taken a dim view at all. In fact I believe that they would have taken quite the opposite view and nailed him, which is not what is needed in this case.
I do hope the police read this and assures me that they would have taken the humane route and not the Thatcherite method of Punish, Punish, Punish.

A Surreal Day...
Morning,
Sorry for not posting anything yesterday whilst in London. It was very cold and all my hands could do was to stay in the relatively warmer climates of my jacket pockets, similarly what they are mostly doing today!
However, that is not to say that we did not have a interesting day. Far from it, in fact, it needs to be put on record that it was a day I won't forget for sometime to come.
The day started being surrounded by dozens of girls seemingly in their way to some sort of Valentines Day event up in Maidstone, they were thankfully only on the train as far as Ashford where they left us!
I got my seat, and settled down listening to ASOT 2008, which got me in the mood for the Capital, as did my own 2 hour mix, which I had done especially for this trip, which in my eyes encapsulated the city!
Got into Charing Cross, just after 11am and the mood seemed not as buoyant as London had always shown to me before then. The same numbers were in the city, and the sales were very much still in evidence, something that sadly did not surprise me.
One bright spot of this was that I was able to get myself two Lyle and Scott vintage jumpers, instead of the intended one jumper, because they were down to half price, (£37, instead of £75!)
Bargain!
I also got myself a nice Ted Baker slim-fitting polo shirt (which is nowhere near as slim on me, than it should be! Reduced from £45 to £22) and a Superdry t-shirt (£25), both from House of Fraser.
Went over to Boots just over the road to see if I could get any decent smellies, as I have a major night next Friday to begin to get organized for. There I found Dolce and Gabbana's The One and Paco Rabanne's 1Million, which came in at just £60 for both.
Decided that, that was enough shopping for the day and proceeded back to the train station, where I thought I'd be able to relax and get the train home...
Some twat thought he'd accidentially spill his coke over my jeans, which more than upset me a bit. I replied that a bit further up and that would have been the most costly coke ever, referring to my iPhone, which thankfully was in my coat pocket. His words back to me were to the effect, "Fuck off, you rich cunt".
Nice.
Anyway, with that off my chest I proceeded to my seat, covered in coke spillage. The train set off and I began to relax again, when I began to realize that I was on the wrong part of the train, particularly as we went past Wye, not great!
Still at least I would be able to change out of my jeans and get some new ones. The adage 'Every Cloud..." came to mind!
Got them, and then got the train to Dover only to find that I would have to wait 40 minutes for the adjoining train back to Folkestone. I don't think so!
I knew that the bus, which went passed the station went to Folkestone, and considering it was £2.70, instead of having to pay at least a fiver for a taxi if I decided to get the train back to Folkestone. No Brainer!
Anyway, all in all it was a good day, if a bit ragged at time, need to do another post about one aspect which I have not mentioned yet, because it deserves it's own post for the questions that it poses me....

Inevitable...
Evening all,
I have arrived back home from the pub within the past hour after meeting up with some friends from work. However, I cannot help but feel left out of the gang. Perhaps it's that with myself rarely out these days due to more pertinent commitments that I feel this is the case.
However, it does dampen the mood for the weekend somewhat, but not enough for me not to be looking forward to London tomorrow!
If I can be bothered I'll post whilst I'm on the way up there!!!

And Here Is The Bonus!!
Morning,
Heading into town as I write to get some money out of my account. It's the day we get our much-treasured bonus which we work our arses all year for.
No it is not as much as the greedy wanker bankers get, but it's enough for me to get my sister a iPhone, give my mother a few quid extra and to allow myself a few hundred to spend in the capital tomorrow.
It's a good day, if only I wasn't working till 7pm tonight!!

Shoesmith Speaks...
Morning,
I see that Sharon Shoesmith, the lady that gave us the Baby P scandal has been speaking the Graudiad. In the interview she states that her and Haringey Council were used as pawns in a party political game.
That might be true, however the bottom line remains that it was her and the authority's responsilbility to look after vulnerable children in their area, which they failed absymally.
If she thinks that stating that she considered committing suicide after being sacked by Ed Balls, is going to get any sympathy from the general public, then she is very much mistaken.
Shoesmith speaks to Auntie, on Woman's Hour at 4pm on Radio 4 this afternoon.
Draw your own conclusions....

Gordon The Idiot
Evening all,
I see that a certain J. Clarkson has apologised for calling Chairman Brown a "one-eyed Scottish idiot".
I say why apologise for saying something that a lot of people feel. Although I would not have used those words, I can see his point.
More like a "unelected idiot".

What Is The Fuss?
Morning,
As I walk into work as I write, I am forced to cross the thought of the snow that large swathes of the country has had these past few days.
Why is it, that people think that it is good that on average Six Million have taken at least one sickie this week when the economy stands ever so more close to collapse than it has done in recent times.
It is as much a responsilbility of us, than it is of Government and Business that we try and continue as normal. The times we live in means that we have no option but to.
Or is the view that British workers are more workshy than their European cousins, closer to the truth than we all would like to think?
Speak laters,
Rob :)

Gordon Won't Be Happy!!
Evening, all!
Cannot help but think that Obama knew that meeting Mr Blair would piss Brown off.
Seems to me that all the bluster about Chairman Brown's boast that him and Obama are best buddies is just that.
You know things are not going well, when the new U.S President would rather meet your predecessor than you....
